This sport is the ultimate in physical conditioning. This training is performed in a group once a week, days vary. Opportunities are available to compete locally and internationally. On training nights you will be instructed on the correct lifting techniques used (Russian Method). This is then incorporated into a very intense training session. The only easy thing about Girevoy Sport is giving up! All Kettlebells are supplied for training. If you decide that its the sport for you then you have the option to purchase international competition grade Kettlebells off me. They will last for generations and are quite indestructable, being made out of solid steel. Girevoy Sport is the only sport available that covers all aspects of fitness, and can be conducted in very minimal space, even out doors. |

This sport was developed in 1948 and is possibly the most challenging aspect of kettlebell lifting. It is a challenge both mentally and physically. There are no age limits, and is performed equally by men and women. Men work up to using the 24kg and 32kg to make rank internationally. Women work up to 12kg and 16kg to make rank internationally. Much like a martial art there are progressive steps that must be taken to gain the strength and endurance to handle the above weights. This training is also perfect for those who have an "off season" as it will keep you in top condition and improve your performance dramatically. For those who are combat athletes, military or emergency services this is the perfect sport, in itself or as a cross training sport. |

Girevoy Sport is divided into two main areas. Traditional- which is the jerk then snatch, and the long cycle clean and jerk. The Snatch Traditionally the snatch and the jerk are performed , each for a period of 10 minutes straight. This is an international sport with specific rankings. The clean & jerk is generally performed on its own, again for 10 minutes. Depending on weight and ability determines what size kettlebell is used. All scores are scaled and are relative to body weight. The great thing about this is that 55kg competitor can compete against a 100kg competitor on equal ground. The sport itself is a complete system of physical development in which strength, power, co-ordination and breathing are synchronised to produce remarkable results in both physical and self-development.
